Corfu
Corfu
Corfu is a beautiful town, with architecture reflecting the different powers that dominated it through the centuries. Only recently returned to Greece, it is unlike other coastal Greek cities. It has an old fort that is Venetian, as evidenced by the Lion of St. Mark icons everywhere, has a wonderful esplanade built by the French, and buildings built by the British. Best of all, the limited agriculture makes terrific olives, and a unique liquor from the flowers and fruit of kumquats.
