Venice

Venice is stunning! We first saw it as our plane approached for landing. For everything we've heard aout it, it is suprisingly small. As Rick Steves said, "Venice is a small town". So far, we've been to the top of the Campanile, and have gone through St. Mark's Basilica. The Palazzo Ducale was closed due to a national strike (a regular occurence around the Mediterranean, we hear), so we'll try to see it on our second day here. If we it's still closed, then we'll have yet another reason to come back to this enchanting city. (And SOON, before it sinks into the lagoon.)
